Letter from Joe Checkley

February 24, 2003

Dear colleague,
In 2002, we committed to making it easier for you to save money and time by introducing voluntary programs that are convenient and valuable. In September, we introduced the 529 College Savings Plan and received positive feedback from our employees. In keeping with our commitment, we are pleased to announce that we are now making available the following PersonalPlans® programs through Marsh @WorkSolutions:

  • Auto and home insurance
  • Legal services
  • Veterinary pet insurance

Enrollment for Voluntary Programs
You can enroll in any of these services from February 24-March 14, 2003. These voluntary programs are paid for through payroll deduction.1

You can sign up for the legal services program only during this enrollment period. After the period ends, you will not be eligible to enroll in legal services until the company’s 2004 annual enrollment in the fall of 2003.2 However, you can enroll in auto and home insurance and veterinary pet insurance at any time during the year. Marsh @WorkSolutions, a leading administrator of voluntary employee programs, administers these programs.

Please read the enclosed materials for more information and respond by March 14 to enroll in the programs of your choice. For more details or to enroll, call Marsh @WorkSolutions at 1-800-626-9011 or visit Employee services on http://MyStandard (from the office) orhttp://www.asdemployeeservices.com (from home or another internet connection).

Auto and Home Insurance
Many Americans list their auto and their home as their most valuable possessions. Yet auto and home insurance coverage isn’t a “one size fits all” proposition. Rates and benefits can vary widely from company to company and even from state to state.3 For a free, no-obligation quote, call Marsh @WorkSolutions or visit MyStandard. If you qualify for and choose to purchase coverage, your new policy can be bound within 24 hours.

Legal Services
Many employees will face legal issues during the next year. If you think you may have legal needs, you can get legal advice in a variety of areas for $15.95 a month.

Legal assistance can include such items as creating a will, buying a new house, dealing with a divorce, and selling your used car. Plus, the program includes access to a broad range of financial planning services.

If you are interested in these services, call 1-800-626-9011 or visit MyStandard to find out what types of legal services are covered under the program or to enroll. Remember, if you are interested, you must enroll by March 14 or you will not be eligible to enroll in this service until American Standard’s next annual enrollment in the fall of 2003. Employees that enroll on or before March 14 will have coverage effective May 1, 2003.

Veterinary Pet Insurance
There may come a time when your pet will need professional medical care. Veterinary pet insurance covers medical problems and conditions for cats, dogs, birds, rabbits, reptiles and other exotic pets.4 You can use any licensed veterinarian. Call Marsh @WorkSolutions or visit MyStandard to enroll. If you enroll in veterinary pet insurance during this initial enrollment period, your coverage will be effective April 1, 2003.

Please take a few moments to look over the enclosed materials. If you have questions about any of these programs, call Marsh @WorkSolutions at 1-800-626-9011 between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Central time, Monday through Friday. When you call, identify yourself as an American Standard employee. If you’re interested, take action before the enrollment ends on March 14.

Sincerely,

Joseph R. Checkley
Director, Employee Benefits
